Moving at the Speed of Trust

Notes from the drive home, not in order.

The most important skill I learnt in Dimboola had nothing to do with lumens. It was knowing when the projector should stay off.

My job: cameras, drones, projection, sound. Not my job: deciding what gets shown. That belonged to community, and the work was better for it.

Yarns before footage. Then more yarns. Then a test at dusk. Then a yarn about the test.

The river was here before any of us and has heard every version of every story. I tried to make the light behave like a guest.

Slow art isn’t a style. Sometimes it’s just the speed trust moves at.

Twenty years of native title. Grateful to have been in the room, even down the back with the cables.
