Night Shoots on Country

Things I heard on the night shoots:

generators humming like large patient insects

the wind deciding whether to let us work

someone saying “one more” and meaning it kindly

a drone battery dying at exactly the wrong moment (they allways know)

nothing, for a long time, which is also a sound

Projecting onto Country is not like projecting onto a wall. The land was here long before the image and will be here long after we pack up. You keep the footprint small. Ask. Test. Wait for the wind to drop. Ask again.

Some films you make. Some films you’re allowed to help carry for a little while, and then you hand them back.
