Dya

Documentary, Pink Lake Media, Wotjobaluk Country (Wimmera) VIC, 2026

Project description

Dya (Country) is a documentary by Wotjobaluk writer and director Tracey Rigney of Pink Lake Media. Tracey weaves her own story with her community’s long fight for native title, from her grandfather, a Wotjobaluk Elder who helped lead the claim, to her daughter, walking beside her on Dya today. In 2005 the Wotjobaluk became the first people in south-eastern Australia to gain a native title consent determination.

Little Projector Company worked with Tracey from development through to post-production: consulting on the treatment and projection concepts, then shooting interviews, B-roll and drone footage in the Wimmera in May 2026. At night, animated artworks were projected onto the Sheep Hills silo and onto a scar tree on Country, then filmed for the documentary.
