Our Place Our Story

Outdoor immersive projection, Wotjobaluk Nations Festival, Dimboola VIC, 2025

Project description

Our Place Our Story was an outdoor immersive experience celebrating 20 years of native title for the Peoples of the Wotjobaluk Nations, presented on the evenings of 13 and 14 December 2025 as part of the Wotjobaluk Nations Festival in Dimboola.

The work grew from a collaboration between community and creatives, guided by one idea: the reclamation and celebration of culture. Stories of significant places, including the Ranch, the Common, Ebenezer Mission, Antwerp and the Barringgi Gadyin (Wimmera River), were brought to life through projection, film, animation and song in language.

Making began on Country in October 2025. The Dalki Murrup Dancers’ reclamation of ceremony at Ebenezer Mission was filmed at dusk against the projection-mapped mission building, and art and ideas from workshops with young people fed into the festival projections at the Ranch.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which Our Place Our Story was created: the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk Peoples.
